A Sweet Death!

A Doomful of SugarA Doomful of Sugar by Catherine Bruns
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Leila Khoury has always believed that everyone loved her father as much as they loved his maple syrup. When he's killed, she returns to Sugar Ridge, Vermont to take over his business. When her brother becomes a suspect, Leila investigates to find the truth about her father's sticky end.
This was a great start to a cozy mystery series. Leila is a likeable character, and the side characters are interesting. The plot was well thought out, and I couldn’t figure out whodunit until the big reveal. I recommend this book. Thank you to NetGalley and Poisoned Pen Press for this advanced reader’s copy. This review is my unbiased opinion.

Vandalism, Sabotage, and Murder!

Death by Spiced ChaiDeath by Spiced Chai by Alex Erickson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In Pine Hills, someone is trashing Krissy Hancock’s reputation. First, Cockroaches are found in the bookstore, then spiteful reviews, and vandalism are all blamed on Krissy. Her boyfriend, local cop Paul Dalton, is on the case, but before they can source the saboteur, Krissy is framed for murder, too. Unless Krissy can uncover the truth, it won’t just be her business in hot water, her life will be on the line too.
This is a great series for any cozy mystery reader. The plot is well developed, the characters are diabolically created, and the story is fun. This one of those stories that if you put it down for a day, you can pick it right back up and know what’s happening. Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for this advanced reader’s copy. This review is my unbiased opinion.

A Time Traveling Love Story!

The Love Token : A delightful story of a love that defies time (GraceTown Book 2)The Love Token : A delightful story of a love that defies time by Cindy Kirk
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This beautiful story is about a woman who finds a love token in an old trunk. She volunteers at a town festival. As the love token sits in her pocket, she steps into a tent which transports her to 1916. There she finds the man of her dreams! Now what? Should she stay in 1916 with her love, or back in the present with her family?
I loved this story… until the end. The characters were very likable, and the plot kept me turning the pages until the end. The ending was not what I wanted it to be. I won’t explain the ending, but to me, it was bittersweet. I enjoy Cindy Kirk’s books, and I recommend them!
